We're looking for an enthusiastic Ruby on Rails Developer looking for a fresh challenge and to join a growing team. The role will consist of working closely with our current team to understand customer needs with the aim of transforming their concepts into seamless digital experiences. In addition to developing new concepts, you will also be required to work on existing legacy software which will include bug resolution, feature implementation as well as general maintenance.

An integral part of the development process involves a high percentage of application test coverage, ensuring all key aspects and features of the apps are functioning as expected. This will be a key aspect of the role, ensuring future features and applications employ strict TDD principles. You’ll need to be comfortable working autonomously and as part of a team, as you’ll be taking part in the majority of the development lifecycle, working on potentially complex builds while collaborating with the customer and other individuals within the development team.

All of our software is written in Ruby on Rails, experience with this language and framework is essential as well as demonstrating the ability to learn and advance in the language.

Requirements
  • Web - Knowledge of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Code - Competent in key coding concepts (e.g. MVC) and the ability to learn new technologies
  • Code - Experience in developing with Ruby on Rails
  • Code - Experience in developing with JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS, Stimulus or Angular
  • Testing - Unit testing and good understanding of TDD
  • Server - Ability to navigate and manage a unix web server
  • Source Control - Experience with source control such as Git
  • Collaboration - Provide estimates in collaboration with your team in story points
  • Planning - Participate and actively engage in all the Scrum activities
  • Ability to develop at all levels of the Application stack (Unix server, back end code, front end styling and UX)
  • Typically 2 to 5 years experience of Ruby on Rails development

  • You must be UK based
  • You will be expected to manage your own time
  • Usual work hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday
  • Holiday entitlement of 28 days, including Bank Holidays
