You will serve as an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic in the Utilities and Energy Management Product Line of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties:

  • You will test, calibrate, repair, and perform maintenance necessary to ensure reliability and efficiency of all thermal plants.
  • You will interpret control logic drawings, ladder diagrams, blueprints, electrical/electronic schematic diagrams, wire circuit drawings, and OEM drawings and specifications.
  • You will operate EWS (engineering workstation) computer and human machine interfaces for the purpose of troubleshooting boiler controls.
  • You will calibrate and replace as necessary Programmable Logic Controllers for the demineralizer water plants and distributed control system components for the boiler and plant systems controls.
  • You will conduct regular inspections of flow meter recording, integrated flows, pressures, temperatures, levels, and analyzer readings (gas and water).
  • You will check circuits, attach leads to terminals, connect test equipment, and compare results with standard.
  • You will adjust and troubleshoot pneumatic devices.

Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current fourth-class operator license using the National Association of Power Engineers criteria or equivalent.
  • You may be required to obtain and maintain a current certification as a Virginia Visible Emissions Evaluator.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
