We are recruiting a Sous Chef for a busy, independent casual fine dining restaurant in Leeds city centre. This is a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen delivering modern British cuisine using fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. You will join a large kitchen brigade of 20+ chefs, working closely with the Head Chef in a structured but creative environment with real input on menus and development.

Role Overview
As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in running a high-volume, fresh food kitchen. You will help maintain consistent food quality, lead service, and contribute to ongoing menu development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with menu development using seasonal and fresh ingredients
- Oversee daily kitchen service, prep, and plating standards
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance
- Lead, train, and support junior chefs
- Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
- Support cost control and waste reduction
- Step up in Head Chef’s absence
- Work closely with front of house for smooth service delivery
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as Sous Chef or Senior Junior Sous Chef
- Experience in high-volume, fast-paced kitchens essential
- Background in fresh food restaurants, gastropubs, or casual fine dining
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Professional Cookery
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Confident working under pressure in busy services
- Passion for modern British cuisine and seasonal produce
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
