The Role
Working alongside the Head Chef, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality meals for residents, students, staff and guests. You'll be involved in all aspects of food preparation, menu delivery and kitchen operations while maintaining exceptional food hygiene and presentation standards.
You'll have the opportunity to work with fresh produce, contribute ideas and help maintain the high standards the kitchen is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a range of traditional and contemporary dishes
- Produce cakes, desserts and baked items where required
- Assist with menu planning and recipe costing
- Ensure dishes are prepared consistently to agreed standards
- Support the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Lead the kitchen team in the absence of senior management
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, HACCP and health & safety standards
- Minimise food waste through effective stock rotation and portion control
- Deliver excellent customer service and support front-of-house operations when required
About You
Essential:
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
- Level 1 & 2 Food Hygiene Certificates
- Strong cooking skills and passion for fresh food
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Positive team player with a hands-on approach
- Self-motivated and able to use initiative
Desirable:
- Experience with baking and pastry work
- Experience supervising or leading a kitchen team
- Knowledge of menu planning and food cost control
