Security Assistant (Office Automation)

You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the NAVY INSTALLATIONS COMMAND (CNIC) of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK.

Duties:

• You will perform a variety of security, administrative and supply assistant functions in support of the Non Guard Security organization.
• You will perform and/or monitor standardized aspects of established security program operations.
• You will prepare a variety of reports and will maintain the required records for all functions in the Non Guard Security tasks such as Entry Control and Armory functions to include physical security functions to prevent a reoccurrence of problems.
• You will use knowledge of Non-Guard Security supply requirements to ensure supply support for the organization.
• You will review requisitions, supporting documents, and reference material to determine priority supply action required, the status of action, changes in requirements and unexpected requirements, and to expedite delivery of urgently required items.

Requirements:

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
• Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
• You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications:

• Qualified Typist: This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
• Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
• Preparing and maintaining a variety of documents and records according to established guidelines.
• Responding to information requests for personnel actions.
• Requisitioning supplies.
• Utilizing office equipment (e.g. personal computer, fax machine, scanner, etc.) to perform administrative tasks.
