Our client is a small, dynamic, independent company importing active pharmaceutical ingredients (API’s) for supply to pharmaceutical manufacturers in the UK and Ireland. Due to expansion, they are looking for a graduate either in a science (biology, chemistry or pharmaceutical) or business discipline to join the team who will be responsible for converting and exploiting new opportunities within their existing and potential customer portfolio.
You will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations for customers throughout the UK and Ireland, with objectives of customer development, new business development, and tangible sales and margin growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Responsible for management and development of customer accounts in allocated territory to optimise and increase sales; net profit targets to be set. All activities to be completed in-line with in-house Quality Management System and work instructions.
- Explore all opportunities to develop and grow the business, whether assessing potential markets for new APIs, or assessing potential customer base for existing APIs and in doing so, build the contact base within the company to establish links for new accounts and new business.
- Assess and introduce sources of active pharmaceutical ingredients to existing and potential clients, in adherence with the company’s Approved Suppliers List, which includes basic approval data in line with MHRA GMP guidelines and ICHQ7.
- Manage credit control of allocated customer accounts to ensure payments are made on-time and in-full to aid business cashflow; ensure Managing Director is aware of potential problems and if necessary, develop specific payment schedule for customer.
- Liaise with all members of the team to ensure that all quality and regulatory issues raised are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner including but not limited to audit requests, non-conformances, quality agreements, technical agreements, supplier questionnaires and general day-to-day requests for information.
- Self-motivated, computer literate, numerate, literate, with excellent customer service skills and a flexible and organised approach to the demands of the role.
- An eye for detail is essential to comply with the complexities of the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience in sales and account management in the pharmaceutical industry would be an advantage but not essential.
