We are working with a highly reputable and well-known facilities management contractor who provide all-round building maintenance services nationally to clients within the commercial sector. Due to expansion, we are looking to recruit an Electrical Design Manager to join the team in the region. This role is working from home with time spent on the road at client sites across the southeast regions - Southampton, Reading, South London, Kent, Eastbourne, Brighton.

Role:

  • Liaison with the Refrigeration Design Managers and Project Managers to ensure an effective handover is carried out at the outset of the contract.
  • Ensuring that all projects are handed over to the project manager with a full brief of costs and design.
  • Liaising with CAD technicians before and after projects to ensure the drawings capture all relevant electrical requirements as per project specification.
  • Ensuring that all projects are managed in accordance with the HSE Management system framework and procedures.
  • Visiting sites with the design manager prior to handover to agree the most efficient, cost-effective solution to deliver the project requirements.
  • Provide accurate loadings and power requirements for all new submains required to electrical consultants.
  • Understanding specific clients’ requirements, producing designs in line with their specifications, and preparing documentation i.e., drawings, bills of quantities, SoW, CCP’s etc.
  • Regenerating and updating old & new designs on the design software and advising the electricians and project managers of the project requirements.
  • Providing technical guidance, electrical scope of works and support to the team, resolving any design issues that may arise.
  • Producing estimates based on the project requirements by retrieving quotes from subcontractors and suppliers and populating the client specific schedule of rates.
  • Using the issued budget sheet to procure in house or relevant approved subcontract labour.
  • Liaison with installation managers and advising them on project requirements to ensure availability of labour resource.
  • Liaising with project managers following project handover and placing orders for all engineering equipment and parts as per project specification.
  • Approving design plans, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulations.
  • Consistent continuous professional development (CPD) relating to constant changes to electrical regulations BS:7671 Amendment 4.
  • Ensuring relevant testing and commissioning is completed in accordance with the latest regulations and is recorded so it is available upon request.
  • Visiting the site prior to Final account and audit with the PM and checking all as fitted drawings and schedules, ensuring they are a proper reflection of the installed project.
  • The completion and return of Sub-contractor evaluation scorecards.
  • To stay updated on the latest advancements in electrical design technology and regulations and implement them in our projects.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Communication - Liaising with other management and engineers to ensure the project is installed as per design and client specifications and meeting deadlines.
  • Quality of work – site snagging issues resolved within a maximum period of 6 days.
  • Site Health & Safety non-conformances – closed out within 5 working days.
  • Management of labour costs within budget.
  • Management of material costs within budget.
  • Management of plant costs within budget.
  • Delivery of forecasted project profit levels.
  • Management of the regional electricians and electrical subcontractors to ensure the provision of agreed service levels to clients.

The Person:

You should have a minimum of 7 years previous experience within an Electrical environment and will have strong organisational ability when the workload and demands are high. You should be positive, competent, and personable, with good communication skills and attention to detail. You will hold relevant electrical qualifications:

  • City & Guilds 2330 (Installing Electrical Systems & equipment)
  • BS7671: 18th Edition wiring regulations Amendment 2 2022
  • City & Guilds 2391
  • Gold Card CITB- SMSTS (Preferably)
  • Skill Card (Desirable)

  • £51,700 - £60,700 including car allowance
