(Infrastructure / Site Reliability Engineer)

💷 £90,000 to £105,000 + equity

📍 London

🏠 Hybrid, typically one or two days per week from home

🔐 Active UK Security Clearance required

If you enjoy building production infrastructure, automating complex operations and taking genuine ownership of system reliability, this opportunity deserves your attention.

We are supporting a leading global technology company seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to help build, deploy and operate highly scalable systems supporting critical UK government work.

This is a hands-on engineering position. The team needs someone who has built and deployed production systems, not someone whose experience has been limited primarily to debugging, ticket handling or application support.

What you’ll be doing

  • Building, deploying and operating reliable production infrastructure
  • Managing monitoring, alerting, configuration and infrastructure upgrades
  • Deploying products across production environments
  • Troubleshooting complex systems using observability tools and service logs
  • Automating manual processes, operational workflows and runbooks
  • Working with containerised environments and orchestration technologies
  • Supporting infrastructure migrations and long-term scalability improvements
  • Developing software-based solutions to infrastructure challenges
  • Collaborating with engineering, product and forward-deployed teams
  • Participating in an on-call rotation approximately once every five to six weeks

Could you be an excellent match?

The hiring team will assess candidates carefully against each requirement below. Please take a moment to review the checklist before applying.

The strongest candidates will be able to tick all, or nearly all, of the following:

  • Experience building and deploying production systems, rather than working primarily on debugging or support
  • A Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree from a globally recognised top-50 university
  • Active UK Security Clearance at SC level or above
  • Based in London or genuinely willing to relocate
  • Approximately 1 to 5 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, Site Reliability Engineering or a closely related field
  • Hands-on production experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience within defence technology, a highly complex technical organisation or a major cloud or technology company
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, Go or JavaScript
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible, or substantial CI/CD pipeline experience
  • No direct application to the hiring company within the past 12 months

Experience from defence, government, hyperscale cloud or technically complex organisations will be especially valuable. This might include environments comparable to Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop Grumman, Anduril or major global cloud and technology companies.

Equivalent experience from another highly complex production environment will also be considered carefully.

What’s on offer

  • £90,000 to £105,000 base salary
  • Restricted Stock Units as part of the compensation package
  • Relocation assistance for candidates currently based outside London (Must be UK based already)
  • Hybrid working, normally with one or two days per week from home
  • Work involving large-scale, mission-critical production systems
  • Exposure to advanced infrastructure, automation, AI and LLM technologies
  • Significant autonomy and responsibility from an early stage

***Due to the security requirements, candidates who do not already hold active UK SC clearance unfortunately cannot be considered for this particular opportunity.***
