Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Class 1 HGV Driver to join our dedicated transport team, delivering heavy plant and machinery to sites nationwide.
Role Overview
As a Class 1 Plant Driver, you’ll be responsible for the safe loading, securing, and transportation of heavy plant equipment — including excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, rollers and other specialist machinery — between our depots and customer sites. You’ll work closely with our logistics and site teams to ensure every delivery is completed efficiently and safely, maintaining the high standards expected of the M O’Brien Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Class 1 (C+E) vehicle for nationwide transport of plant and equipment.
- Safely load and unload heavy machinery using ramps and securing equipment.
- Conduct daily vehicle and trailer checks, ensuring compliance with company and DVSA standards.
- Secure loads correctly in line with legal and company safety requirements.
- Complete delivery and collection documentation accurately.
- Communicate effectively with transport planners and site personnel.
- Maintain full knowledge and personal management of drivers’ hours to ensure continual compliance.
Skills & Experience Required
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence.
- CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
- Load and Secure Ticket.
- Proven experience in transporting and loading heavy plant or construction machinery.
- Strong knowledge of load restraint and weight distribution.
- Excellent awareness of health & safety and transport legislation.
