We are looking for a proactive and organised Hire Controller to join our busy Hire Desk team, supporting the efficient hiring, allocation, and coordination of plant and equipment.
Purpose of the Role
To manage the end-to-end hire process, ensuring plant and equipment are supplied accurately, on time, and in line with customer expectations, while supporting efficient depot operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the hiring and off hiring of plant and equipment to customers
- Act as a key point of contact for customers, handling enquiries, bookings, and queries
- Raise and manage quotes for all customer enquiries, always ensuring accuracy
- Coordinate with transport and service teams to ensure smooth delivery, collection, and equipment readiness
- Schedule and ensure correct equipment is allocated to the right job
- Maintain accurate live hire and off-hire records, ensuring all documentation is complete and up to date
- Process hire-related administration accurately
- Monitor plant availability and utilisation, working closely with operations teams
- Produce reports on hire performance, revenue, and equipment utilisation
- Resolve any hire-related issues quickly and effectively whilst ensuring high levels of customer service
- Ensure all activities comply with health & safety and company procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a Hire Controller or similar role within plant hire, construction, or logistics
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Good understanding of plant and equipment (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in hire/operations systems
- A proactive, team-focused approach
