As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and driven Group Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen compliance, governance, and assurance activities across the Group.
Purpose of the Role
The Group Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance frameworks across all business divisions, ensuring the Group operates in accordance with legal, regulatory, contractual, and industry requirements.
Working closely with the Directors, senior management, and operational teams, the role will provide leadership on compliance strategy, risk management, governance, and continual improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Governance
- Develop and maintain the Group Compliance Management Framework.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Monitor changes in legislation and advise the business on emerging compliance obligations.
- Maintain company policies, procedures, and governance controls across all business units.
- Lead compliance reporting and provide regular updates to the Board and senior leadership team.
- Audit & Assurance
- Develop and implement an annual audit programme across all Group operations.
- Conduct compliance audits across depots, transport operations, workshops, earthworks projects, recycling facilities, and support functions.
- Monitor corrective actions and ensure audit findings are effectively closed out.
- Establish and maintain assurance processes to verify compliance performance and operational standards.
- Management Systems
- Manage and continuously improve the Group's integrated management systems.
• Support and maintain accreditation standards, including
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety FORS

- Act as the lead contact for external audits and certification bodies.
- Risk Management
- Support the identification, assessment, and management of organisational risks.
- Maintain the Group Risk Register.
- Work with operational leaders to develop mitigation plans and monitor effectiveness.
- Investigate significant compliance breaches and ensure lessons learned are implemented.
- Operational Compliance
- Work closely with Transport, Plant, Rail, Earthworks, Recycling, and Commercial teams to ensure compliance obligations are understood and achieved.

- Deliver training, guidance, and awareness programmes to managers and employees.
- Support managers in understanding and implementing compliance requirements within their areas of responsibility.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen governance and operational performance.
- What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience in a senior compliance, governance, risk, or assurance role.
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements within construction, transport, infrastructure, plant hire, waste, recycling, or rail sectors.
- Experience managing integrated management systems and external accreditations.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Experience conducting audits and implementing compliance improvement programmes.
- Strong report writing, analytical, and investigation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Internal Auditor qualification
Desirable
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
- Lead Auditor qualification.
- IOSH Membership.
- Transport Manager CPC.
- IEMA qualification.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary construction or infrastructure businesses.
- Experience supporting Board-level governance and reporting.
