Our client is an innovative engineering technology business providing advanced cloud-based simulation software to customers across motorsport, automotive and sports science. Following continued growth, they are now seeking a Business Development Executive to support proactive customer acquisition across key technical markets. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious sales professional to join a highly technical and collaborative environment, helping to drive commercial growth across the UK and Europe.

The Business Development Executive will play a key role in identifying and developing new commercial opportunities, supporting the transition from a primarily marketing-led acquisition model to a proactive business development approach. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and engaging prospective customers across motorsport, automotive and sports science sectors
  • Conducting proactive outreach via events, networking, phone, email and LinkedIn.
  • Meeting with prospective clients via online meetings, such as MS Teams for example.
  • Representing the business at industry events, conferences and trade exhibitions
  • Qualifying inbound enquiries and converting them into commercial opportunities
  • Running discovery conversations and coordinating technical demonstrations with internal engineering teams
  • Managing opportunities through the full sales cycle from initial engagement to contract signature
  • Maintaining accurate CRM, pipeline and forecasting information

The role is based from a modern innovation facility in West Northamptonshire, with good access from Warwick, Leamington Spa, Rugby, Banbury and Daventry.

Applicants should ideally possess:

  • 1–3 years’ experience in B2B sales
  • Experience within technical software, engineering services or a related technical sector would be advantageous
  • A demonstrable ability to generate pipeline through proactive outreach activity
  • Confidence with cold outreach alongside relationship-led business development
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage credibly with technical and engineering audiences
  • Excellent organisational skills and self-motivation
  • Willingness to very occasionally travel within the UK and Europe

Desirable experience includes:

  • Exposure to motorsport, automotive or sports science sectors
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive
  • An engineering or technical academic background

This is a full-time position; however, our client would also consider a part-time arrangement of approximately 20 hours per week for an exceptional candidate with closely aligned experience.

Package:

  • Basic salary up to £35,000 per annum (DOE), with a commission structure offering an OTE of up to £40,000–£50,000 per annum (again, Dependant On Experience)
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Company pension scheme
  • Opportunity to join a growing and innovative technical business within a specialist industry
