Our client is recruiting a Technical Project Manager to support their hydrogen and Government services projects. The contract will be for an initial 8 months based in our clients’ offices in Surrey. The engagement will be Outside of IR35 with hybrid working available.

Purpose of the Role: To be responsible for the delivery of a series of Deferred Design projects in collaboration with the client and suppliers. The role is for a disciplined, tech-savvy and proactive Technical Project Manager whose strengths are in detailed planning, plan management and analysis, governance and running multiple parallel critical paths.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of detailed plan and ensuring the critical paths of all projects have integrity, tasks are resourced adequately with realistic effort provisions, internal and external dependencies are clearly defined and managed, critical milestones are clearly defined and met.
  • Detailed planning, including but not limited to detailed planning and re-planning of all WBS/PBS elements, smoothing and float management, deconfliction, critical path burn-down and reporting, task progress updating and reporting.
  • Ensuring all Products defined in the plan are managed per the configuration management and change management processes, ensuring all Products go through proper review cycles with correct stakeholders to meet plan dates.
  • Leading all internal standups, sprint ceremonies and checkpoints required to ensure plan remains on critical path.
  • Ensuring the KANBAN boards are being used correctly by all task-based resources to ensure standups are efficient and effective.
  • Overall responsibility for RAID log, including capture, update and any governance required to manage, maintain and report.
  • Assisting teams in Quality Gateway management, including preparing the gateway assessments and managing the gateway governance meetings, assessment issue and mitigations.
  • May assist the Programme Director in Programme-level planning, reporting or governance.
  • Matrix-managing the Project Coordinator in the delivery of their responsibilities, majority of which will be in support of Technical PMs.
  • Key point of contact for Project Managers in client and supplier mobilisation teams, building delivery relationships to ensure mutual critical milestones are met.
  • Ability to impact assess change as required using modelling to forecast impacts to plan.
  • Ensuring cohesion with supplier mobilisation plans and key delivery milestones ensuring alignment of the Company and Supplier plans where applicable.
  • Ensuring all documentation is stored and updated in the master document register as required.
  • Ensuring communications and correspondence with internal team, external suppliers, and client are frequent and support the progress of the overall plan.
  • Overall management of the project change process.

Experience:

  • Manage large, complex (multiple critical path) plans across 12 months+ duration.
  • Delivery in both waterfall and agile environments.
  • Leading standups with experienced delivery teams and developers.
  • Managing multiple projects in a Programme environment.
  • Supply-side project management.
  • Public sector business orientated (i.e., non-technical) client stakeholders.
  • Working with multiple external PMs, building good delivery relationships to ensure mutual success.
  • Working in fast-paced projects with fixed go-live dates.
  • Managing project coordinator or junior PM.
  • Impacting change to a project and its resources as it occurs.

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate/Advanced in Smartsheet and/or MS Project.
  • Intermediate in MS Excel, including working understanding of macros and Pivot tables.
  • Intermediate in MS PowerPoint.
  • Some experience using Jira KANBAN or other digital KANBAN.
  • Good working knowledge of software, integration and hosting technologies (Azure and IaaS virtualized).
