We are seeking a Piping and Layout Designer to support a Pharmaceutical Plant Project.
Location: Chiswick, London
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
- 3D modelling of piping and equipment using S3D.
- Preparation/checking of 2D deliverables including plot plans, vessel orientations and isometrics.
- Interpretation and application of PFDs, P&IDs and piping classes.
- Review and comment on supplier documentation.
- Responsible for design, deliverables and inter-discipline interfaces for a particular scope or area.
- Works in accordance with company/project design guides and procedures and able to plan and execute work in an organized manner.
- Able to communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions.
- Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators).
- Participates in design reviews, both internal and with clients.
- Understands typical project information workflows and internal/external customers.
- Promotes the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Proactively ensures designs are safe, promoting health and safety of construction and operations personnel as well as preventing damage to the environment.
Required Experience / Qualifications:
- Experience of piping and layout design for conceptual, FEED and Detailed Design phases of projects in the Energy Transition, Oil & Gas, LNG or Petrochemical industries.
- Knowledge of typical piping system components and materials, and an understanding of layout requirements of typical process equipment types.
- Experience of using S3D 3D modelling and Microstation for 2D design applications.
- Experience of modularized construction methods is beneficial.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
- Broad knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria.
- The above is normally acquired through:
- A recognized qualification (degree, HND/HNC etc.) in an engineering or scientific discipline.
- Specialized courses in relevant design subjects and/or design software packages.
- Broad progressive work experience in design or other relevant types of engineering such as field engineering or plant operation in large industrial process/utility plants, or engineering/construction contractors.
