Job Description

Waracle are looking for a Manual QA Engineer for an exciting new role joining our world-class digital technology consultancy and home to a diverse, smart, curious and ambitious community of specialists in technology-driven transformation.

We work with ambitious clients to help them solve their biggest business and customer challenges. We help our clients to innovate and create intelligent digital products and services. We thrive on complex challenges and deliver business-critical IT transformation projects, moving seamlessly from strategy, design and delivery to operations.

This is a hybrid role working from our Glasgow or Dundee office 2 days a week.

We are seeking a mid-level Manual QA professional who is passionate about ensuring the quality and reliability of our digital products. You will be a key contributor to our project teams, performing detailed manual testing to ensure our websites and applications meet the highest standards before they go live. Beyond day-to-day testing, you will be an active problem-solver, helping to diagnose and fix issues, including critical site downtime fixes.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Develop a solid understanding of our primary platforms, software standards, and the project’s specific domain or sector.
  • Apply knowledge of functional and non-functional testing methods. You’ll contribute to debugging problems of low-to-intermediate complexity and propose solutions where appropriate.
  • Create test plans and scripts based on acceptance criteria. You’ll also contribute to test strategies and maintain documentation to support the team.
  • Utilise available testing tools effectively and demonstrate a good understanding of SDLC concepts and Agile principles. You will be comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Report defects to a high standard, ensuring clear steps to reproduce, traceability, and necessary evidence. You’ll participate in triage and always test around a fix, not just validate it.
  • Participate in work breakdown, estimating tasks, and clarifying expectations. You will communicate with blockers and commit to a realistic workload.
  • Follow project methodologies and standards, and work independently to meet objectives. You will grow your skillset to allow for easy movement across various projects.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a QA Tester with a strong focus on manual testing, including designing and executing detailed functional and regression test cases.
  • Experience with manual and smoke testing on .NET and Umbraco-based websites is essential.
  • A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving defects.
  • Experience with site downtime fixes or a demonstrated ability to respond to and diagnose live site issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with mobile application testing (iOS and Android) is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, etc.).
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks (optional but beneficial).
