About the Company

The organization brings together sustainability, environmental, social impact, finance, technology, legal and other teams to advance Amazon’s long-term sustainability strategy.

The Opportunity

Amazon’s Worldwide Sustainability Regulatory Reporting team is seeking a detail-focused, results-oriented and collaborative professional to support the company’s global sustainability disclosure processes.

The role will serve as the primary owner of ISSB reporting for all in-scope Amazon legal entities globally. The successful candidate will oversee the reporting process from determining applicable requirements and designing disclosure frameworks through data collection, drafting, internal review, external assurance and final senior leadership approval.

The position will also play an important role in strengthening Amazon’s sustainability reporting controls, data quality, audit readiness and regulatory reporting infrastructure.

What You'll Do

ISSB Sustainability Reporting

Serve as the primary drafter of ISSB-aligned disclosures across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring they meet the requirements of IFRS S1 and S2, including governance, strategy, risk management, metrics and targets.

Data Collection & Disclosure Management

Direct data collection from cross-functional owners and develop both narrative and quantitative sustainability disclosures.

Establish documented data lineage, evidence retention procedures, review processes and complete audit trails from source systems through to published metrics.

Assurance & Reporting Controls

Coordinate with external assurance providers to ensure disclosures meet limited and reasonable assurance readiness standards.

Sustainability Performance Analysis

Analyze sustainability performance against key goals and work with Finance, Accounting, Environment and Social Impact teams to develop performance narratives.

Process Improvement & Automation

Drive continuous improvements in sustainability reporting processes, including developing automation requirements for Amazon’s sustainability technology teams to increase efficiency and reduce control risks.

Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement

Monitor sustainability reporting requirements across jurisdictions and engage with Amazon’s Public Policy team and national regulators on relevant regulatory developments.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Work closely with Worldwide Sustainability, Legal, Finance, Accounting and other teams to understand sustainability programmes, key metrics and reporting requirements.

Requirements

Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in accounting or a related field.
  • Experience with regulatory filings and reports or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience delivering regulatory sustainability reports or external financial statements, including ownership of data collection through publication.
  • Experience directly performing independent third-party assurance or managing external audit firms.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of IFRS S1 and S2, including the four content pillars and connectivity requirements with general‑purpose financial reports.
  • Experience designing and operating reporting controls, governance frameworks and evidence retention standards to a level comparable with financial reporting.
  • Experience with external reporting solutions such as Workiva and familiarity with XBRL tagging.
  • Experience simplifying reporting processes and developing detailed technical requirements for automation.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop sustainability disclosures against specific criteria.
  • Sustainability reporting accreditation or certification, such as the GRI Certified Sustainability Professional or ISSB/IFRS Sustainability Fundamentals Certificate, is advantageous.

Professional Strengths

  • Ability to manage complex projects and deliver in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to develop and execute sustainability disclosure strategies that consider the needs of different stakeholders.

Mindset Fit

  • Comfortable working in situations involving ambiguity and complex requirements.
  • Strong judgment and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and developing robust sustainability reporting practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across different functions and organizational levels.

Amazon highlights an inclusive team culture, mentorship and career development opportunities as part of its employee experience.

The company also provides workplace accommodations for candidates with disabilities during the recruitment and hiring process.

Why This Role Matters

Sustainability reporting is becoming increasingly connected to financial reporting, regulatory compliance and corporate accountability.

This role sits at that intersection, helping Amazon translate complex sustainability data into credible, assured and regulator‑ready disclosures. It therefore offers an opportunity to work at the centre of one of the world's largest companies' evolving approach to climate and sustainability reporting.
