The Opportunity

Simmons & Simmons is seeking a Responsible Business Manager to join its Pro Bono department in London. The role will support the firm's social impact and volunteering programmes while helping integrate ESG, sustainability and corporate responsibility considerations into its operations.

The successful candidate will have a broad remit covering responsible business strategy, ESG and regulatory reporting, charitable giving, social impact, responsible procurement, stakeholder engagement, governance and communications.

What You'll Do

  • Support the development and delivery of the firm's Responsible Business strategy.
  • Conduct and support materiality assessments, theory of change processes, impact measurement and KPI monitoring.
  • Lead responsible business, ESG and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Coordinate the annual Sustainability and Impact Report, UN Global Compact submission, EcoVadis response and Modern Slavery Statement.
  • Prepare updates, papers and performance reports for senior stakeholders and internal committees.
  • Provide ESG and responsible business input for pitches, RFPs and client requests.
  • Develop and implement responsible business policies and best practice guidance.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the firm's Charitable Foundation.
  • Coordinate annual donations, trustee meetings, charitable payments, policy updates and impact reporting.
  • Develop strategic charitable partnerships and encourage global employee engagement.
  • Coordinate responsible business and ESG activities across different teams.
  • Represent the firm through relevant external committees and networks.
  • Expand social impact and volunteering opportunities for employees and clients.
  • Work with Enterprise Risk Management and other teams to incorporate ESG, sustainability, human rights and modern slavery considerations into procurement and supplier management.
  • Support responsible business events, including the annual Pro Bono & Responsible Business Awards.
  • Develop internal and external communications highlighting responsible business activities and impact.
  • Support the Responsible Business Board and relevant internal committees.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in responsible business, CSR, ESG, sustainability or social impact.
  • Experience supporting responsible business, ESG, regulatory or impact reporting.
  • Excellent communication, coordination and project management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities and stakeholders within a complex organisation.
