About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established international freight forwarding and logistics organisation based in Basildon, Essex. They are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join their team as a Freight Forwarding & Logistics Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity to kick‑start a career in international logistics whilst earning a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification — gaining real, hands‑on experience across multiple areas of the business from day one.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting international freight forwarding activities across road, ocean and air freight operations
- Assisting in the coordination and movement of shipments throughout the supply chain
- Supporting customer service activities and maintaining communication with customers, suppliers and overseas partners
- Assisting with the preparation and processing of freight documentation
- Learning import and export activities, completed accurately and within required timescales
- Gaining an understanding of customs procedures, compliance requirements and international trade regulations
- Supporting invoicing and administrative tasks in line with company procedures
- Maintaining and utilising operational systems accurately
- Assisting with the preparation of quotations and customer enquiries
- Rotating across departments including Customs, Finance, Operations and Customer Services
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within operational workflows

Essential
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths
Training & Qualification
The successful candidate will complete the International Freight Forwarding Specialist Level 3 Apprenticeship, delivered by South Essex College. The programme runs for 18 months, followed by 3 months to complete the End Point Assessment.
Career Progression
Successful completion of the apprenticeship may lead to a permanent position, subject to performance and business requirements — a real pathway to a long‑term career in freight and logistics.
