Perform Recruitment is hiring on behalf of our client, an established international freight forwarding and logistics business with a strong UK presence, for a Trade Compliance & Customs Specialist to join their Key Accounts team in Heathrow. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid customs or trade compliance experience who wants to play a hands-on role supporting major accounts, working closely with operators, brands, and HMRC on the smooth movement of goods across borders.
What you'll be doing:
- Determining correct tariff classifications for supported brands moving goods from the EU
- Issuing UK-specific import guidance to the business
- Auditing entries for compliance with import/export legislation and brand KPI standards
- Supporting Imports and Exports of non-stock goods, including documentation and declarations
- Liaising with HMRC and maintaining customs procedures
- Managing CITES portal uploads (Import and Re-Export certificates)
- Creating and maintaining written procedures, and generating KPI reports to deadline
- Completing spot checks and weekly reporting to your line manager
What we're looking for:
- Experience in customs/trade compliance within a large business or brokerage
- Strong understanding of UK and EU customs regulations, import duties, commodity codes, incoterms, preference, and valuation
- Fluent English with confident communication across all levels
- Intermediate Excel skills
- A self-starter who's equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team
