Our clients are privately owned freight forwarders dealing with European services and warehouse and logistics. They are currently looking for a new member to join their team within their Customs & Road Freight Operations division. You will be supporting both Freight Forwarding and customs departments, with a strong focus on customs processing and European road freight operations. This role would suit someone currently working within freight forwarding, customs, or European road freight who is looking to broaden their operational experience within a fast-paced logistics environment.

Purpose of the role: Responsible for handling customs formalities for imports and exports, coordinating road freight movements, and supporting the day-to-day operational requirements of both departments.

Duties will include:

  • Customs Responsibilities
    • Complete customs entries for European import and export shipments
    • Ensure all customs documentation is compliant and accurate
    • Liaise with customers, drivers, agents, and customs authorities where required
    • Handle T1 documentation and related transit requirements
    • Monitor and resolve customs queries and clearance delays promptly
    • Ensure all files are maintained accurately within the operating system
  • Operational Responsibilities
    • Coordinate Road Freight shipments for both forwarding and Irish groupage operations
    • Communicate effectively with customers, hauliers, and overseas partners
    • Arrange collections, deliveries, and shipment updates
    • Assist with shipment tracking and issue resolution
    • Ensure jobs are accurately costed and invoiced

Requirements

Experience Required:

  • Strong understanding of European / Irish forwarding processes
  • Experience with customs clearance procedures
  • Direct experience with European/Irish and UK taxation compliance
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proactive problem-solver with a positive approach
