Our client offers global logistics solutions worldwide and is currently looking for an Ocean Import Operator to work at their offices based near Romford to join their Import team. The role would suit someone with some experience of freight forwarding.
The purpose of the role: To work within the Import team to provide a full operational service for LCL and Groupage Import container freight from start to finish. There will be some FCL work also.
Duties will include:
- Providing quotes/rates for clients
- Liaison with shipping lines and tracking shipments, keeping clients updated of any problems
- Working with our overseas offices to ensure shipments are coordinated correctly
- Arranging for the containers to be unstuffed on arrival in the UK, working with our warehouse suppliers across all regions
- Taking care of necessary customs arrangements to clear cargo with our customs teams and ensuring any local fees are collected
- Sending out NOA and invoices and dealing with any invoice disputes
- Managing manifests and any other related paperwork or documentation
- Liaising with warehousing and clearing agents regarding the devanning of containers
- Arranging to release cargo and organising deliveries across the UK and Ireland
A strong customer service focus is a must, with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely across all elements of the role. Speaking to customers which range from forwarders to personal individuals to coordinate their arrival of the cargo and making sure that all procedures are in place to get their shipments released/delivered to them at the earliest chance. Make sure that everything has been costed and charged correctly whilst maximising profits.
