Key Responsibilities
- Design and Development: Develop detailed mechanical designs, including 3D models and technical drawings, to meet project specifications and client requirements.
- Perform stress analysis, material selection, and component testing to ensure product reliability and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to integrate systems effectively.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.
- Collaboration with Shop Floor: Work closely with shop floor teams to oversee the manufacturing and assembly of designs.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, addressing challenges, and ensuring designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Participate in design reviews and prototype testing, incorporating feedback from the shop floor into iterative design improvements.
- Mentoring and Leadership: Act as a mentor to junior engineers, providing guidance on design best practices and professional development.
- Lead by example, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Assist in the planning and delegation of work, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Experience: 7+ years in mechanical design engineering, preferably within test controls, automation, or a similar field.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with FEA, GD&T, and creating BOMs.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including shop floor personnel and other engineering disciplines.
- Leadership and Mentoring: Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in test control systems or automation.
