Our client, a rapidly growing SME, is currently recruiting for a Commercial Heating Engineer to join their team.

Competitive Salary, Overtime & Oncall available, Training courses, Career development, Self employed or PAYE options.

The successful candidate will be a skilled, qualified and reliable Commercial Heating Engineer and will initially work across 3 sites in West London. These will include hospital environments so experience within the sector would be an advantage.

The ideal heating engineer will have experience in maintaining, repairing and installing Low Temperature Hot Water, Medium Temperature Hot Water & Steam Systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monthly PPM and reactive visits relating to plant; Heating & Hot water Calorifiers, Plate Heat Exchangers.
  • Removing bundles from calorifiers to allow inspection/ descaling.
  • Upgrading system components; gauges, safety valves etc.
  • Replacement of key system components on various systems; Pumps, motorised valves, modulators, slam shuts, plate packs.
  • Re-pipe works when system fails.
  • Re-pipe works during project works.
  • Various system upgrades due to the age of the systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular inspections and servicing of all heating systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Respond quickly to heating-related emergencies or system failures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs via job reporting & good communication with their supervisor/ manager.
  • Work closely with other staff when upgrades are taking place within Hospital wards.
  • Feed all site/ system recommendations back to their line manager.
  • Open to be working at multiple sites in 1 day.
  • Jobs can be very Ad-hoc on these premises due to the age of the building, emergencies can come in at any time.
  • Ability to work with Steel, Galvanised steel, stainless steel, copper & ABS, utilising crimped systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a heating engineer, preferably in a healthcare & commercial setting.
  • Commercial plant room experience.
  • Strong knowledge of various heating/ hot water systems and controls.
  • Relevant certifications (NVQ Level 2/3, or equivalent).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • To be willing to obtain necessary qualifications to be part of the team, such as; Asbestos awareness, Manual Handling & Abrasive wheels.
Working Hours:
  • Full-time position with overtime available.
  • Overtime is optional, but due to the site, a lot of works are to be carried out during unsociable hours.
  • Option to be a part of a 24 hour call out schedule.
