Nineteen floors up, the room is yours
Alto Nineteen is the newest rooftop restaurant and bar in London, sitting on Level 19 of Locke Canary Wharf with the city laid out below. Our kitchen, led by Chef Chris Dargavel, cooks modern Mediterranean food built for sharing, lingering and ordering one more plate. The bar matches it glass for glass.
We’re looking for a Maître d’ to own the front door, the floor and the first impression. You’re the person guests remember. You set the tempo of the night, read a room in seconds and make every table feel like the best seat in the house (and up here, most of them are).
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the welcome and guest journey from booking to goodbye, making every arrival feel personal
- Running the reservations book and floor plan to maximise covers without ever rushing a table
- Setting the pace of service alongside the kitchen and bar so the room flows from first seating to last orders
- Building regulars and VIPs, remembering names, preferences and the details that bring people back
- Leading, coaching and motivating the host and floor team every shift
- Handling feedback, special requests and the unexpected with calm and charm
- Working with the Restaurant Manager and F&B Operations Manager to grow revenue, reviews and reputation
Who we’re looking for
- A Maître d’, Head Host, Head Waiter or Senior Supervisor with experience in a busy, quality-led London restaurant or bar
- Someone with natural presence who’s confident, warm and in control when the room is full
- Strong experience with reservation systems such as SevenRooms, OpenTable or ResDiary
- A genuine love of food, drink and hospitality, with an interest in Mediterranean cuisine as a bonus
- A team leader who sets the standard and lifts everyone around them
- Available for evening and weekend service
