We are seeking a talented and motivated Associate Structural Engineer to join our Building Structures team in Birmingham. This is a senior role suited to a Chartered Engineer who is confident leading projects and managing a small team, while delivering innovative and high-quality structural solutions.
The Birmingham Office, adjacent Snow Hill Station, and a five-minute walk from New Street, has an enthusiastic and friendly team, undertaking works on a broad range of both Midlands-based and UK schemes. The portfolio of projects ranges from new aspiring award-winning retail developments, major refurbishment and repurposing residential and commercial opportunities, to advanced manufacturing and industrial units and education developments. As an integral member of the diverse team, you’ll have the opportunity to play a major role in delivering schemes across a huge range of sectors.
As an Associate, you will play a key role in both project delivery and team leadership, contributing to the continued growth and success of the Birmingham office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and delivery of projects across a variety of sectors
- Manage and mentor a team of 3–4 engineers and technicians
- Act as project lead, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards
- Liaise with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to develop effective design solutions
- Review and approve calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across multiple projects
- Support business development activities, including client engagement and proposal preparation
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards, codes, and regulations
About You
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (e.g. ICE or IStructE)
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Extensive experience within a structural engineering consultancy
- Proven experience leading projects and managing small teams
- Strong technical knowledge across a range of building structures
- Experience working across multiple sectors (e.g. commercial, residential, healthcare, education)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving
- Knowledge of software including Robot, Masterseries, Etabs, Tedds, CSC Fastrac Building Designer, Revit
