Our client, a growing independent energy consultancy, is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join their team. You’ll be responsible for developing and growing your own portfolio of clients, from identifying and developing opportunities, through to contract negotiation and account management. To be successful in this role, you must have proven sales experience in the energy sector ideally gained in a consultancy or supplier. Key responsibilities:
- Manage the full sales cycle from identifying opportunities and nurturing relationships to closing contracts
- Play a key role in generating new business and building long-term client partnerships
- Proactively manage and grow your portfolio, ensuring continued value for clients
- Develop a deep understanding of key customer needs and requirements
- Support in resolving client issues promptly and effectively
- Oversee the smooth on-boarding process for new customers
- Manage tender processes across both fixed and flexible energy contracts
Skills and experience required:
- Proven B2B sales experience within the energy sector (gas/electricity) – minimum 5 years
- Strong understanding of the UK energy market, ideally gained in a consultancy or supplier
- Skilled in identifying and converting new opportunities
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to business development
- Experienced in building and maintaining lasting client partnerships
- Experience managing a portfolio of accounts and providing ongoing client support
- Confident communicator with excellent negotiation and presentation skills
- Familiarity with fixed/flex energy contracts
- Ability to work independently and manage your own pipeline
