We are seeking an experienced Lead PMO to join the COO Office and drive the successful delivery of strategic business initiatives across multiple portfolios.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong portfolio governance expertise with hands-on delivery leadership and can operate effectively across senior stakeholder groups.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and enhancing portfolio governance frameworks, driving execution of key business priorities, managing cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring alignment between strategic objectives and delivery outcomes.
This is not a traditional reporting-focused PMO role.
Instead, we are looking for a delivery-oriented leader who can provide structure, governance, and momentum across a diverse portfolio of transformation and business change initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of strategic business initiatives and transformation activities across multiple portfolios within the COO Office.
- Establish, embed, and continuously improve portfolio governance frameworks, ensuring consistent delivery practices and decision-making processes.
- Drive portfolio planning, prioritisation, resource alignment, and execution against strategic business objectives.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to define delivery roadmaps, dependencies, risks, and key outcomes.
- Provide oversight and leadership across multiple workstreams, ensuring initiatives remain on track and aligned to business priorities.
- Facilitate governance forums, steering committees, executive reviews, and decision-making boards.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate portfolio-level risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Drive accountability across project and business teams to ensure delivery commitments are achieved.
- Champion best practices across portfolio management, governance, change delivery, and operational excellence.
- Build strong relationships across business and technology functions to ensure successful delivery of strategic outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- A Lead PMO with a strong track record of managing portfolios, implementing governance frameworks, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving successful execution of strategic business initiatives across an enterprise environment
- Demonstrated experience managing and delivering complex portfolios, programmes, and business initiatives
- Strong experience establishing and operating portfolio governance frameworks, steering committees, delivery controls, and executive reporting structures.
- Experience working directly with senior executives and leadership teams to drive strategic initiatives.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels, balancing governance with delivery.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge and drive decisions where required.
- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives involving business, operations, technology, and third-party partners.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Strong understanding of portfolio management, change delivery, risk management, and organisational transformation.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes within a complex and fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Experience supporting COO, Transformation, Strategy, or Enterprise Change functions.
- Portfolio Management, MSP, PRINCE2, Agile, or related certifications.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide transformation, operational improvement, or strategic change programmes.
