A leading construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Safety Lead to take ownership of health, safety and environmental performance on a prestigious, high-profile project in central London.

This is a key, site-based leadership role, working closely with the Project Director, delivery teams and supply chain to ensure HSE is embedded at every stage of the project lifecycle.

The role will suit a proactive and visible HSE professional who can influence at all levels, drive standards on site, and operate confidently within a fast-paced, technically complex construction environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Project Safety Lead:
  • Act as the lead HSE representative on site, supporting the project leadership team
  • Drive the implementation of HSE strategy, ensuring standards are consistently met and exceeded
  • Review and challenge construction phase plans, RAMS and safe systems of work
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and assurance activities, identifying areas for improvement
  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and effective corrective actions
  • Engage with subcontractors and site teams to promote a strong, proactive safety culture
  • Lead a team of HSE Advisors
  • Monitor HSE performance, providing clear reporting and insight to senior stakeholders
  • Ensure effective contractor management, inductions and ongoing compliance
The Project Safety Lead will have:
  • Proven experience in a lead HSE role on large-scale projects valued at £100m+
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification), ideally working towards or holding CMIOSH
  • Strong background in complex, high-value construction environments (e.g. data centres, commercial, fit out, infrastructure)
  • Confident communicator, able to engage from site level through to senior leadership
  • Proactive, solutions-focused, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced project environment
  • Ideally have the ability to start asap
