At Omnia Training, we’ve brought together some of the UK’s most innovative defence training organisations under one powerful mission: to transform the British Army’s training system and create the best-trained Army in the world. Omnia Training is redefining the British Army’s collective training capabilities. To do that, we are looking for the best and brightest minds from across the UK. Omnia Training is at the heart of the UK’s bold Land Industrial Strategy. This is more than a job — it’s a mission. You will be part of a high-impact, collaborative environment, where every person in our team plays a critical role in delivering Omnia Training’s vision; designing, delivering, and transforming collective training.

Please note that this role will require onsite working from our site in Warminster. Due to the nature of this role, Skyral can only consider applications from candidates who live in the UK and are eligible for Government Security Clearance.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Develop and adapt models based on customer-provided data, SME input and training needs.
  • Implement behavioural logic, effects, interactions, and environmental responses in a way that is both representative and computationally efficient.
  • Tune models to balance fidelity, performance, and scalability, making pragmatic trade-offs based on how the model will actually be used.
  • Design models to be reusable and composable, contributing to a broader simulation ecosystem rather than one-off implementations.
  • Ensure models behave coherently when composed with other models and systems, including handling timing, synchronisation, and interaction consistency.
  • Integrate models with other simulation components, terrain, and environment systems, and external systems (e.g. via HLA, DIS, APIs).
  • Work closely with our Simulation Integration Engineers, Simulation Content Engineer, and Quality Assurance Engineer.
  • Take ownership of a primary modelling area (e.g. capability & effects, human behaviour, environment, or interoperability) while contributing across domains where required.
  • Mentor and review the work of other modelling engineers to raise the technical bar across the team.
  • Support iterative improvement based on validation outcomes, exercise feedback, and operational use.

What We Are Looking For:

This is not a research modelling role. You will build models that are used in real training systems, where performance, integration, and usability matter as much as correctness.

  • Strong analytical and systems thinking mindset, with the ability to make architectural decisions when faced with uncertainty.
  • Experience of working across multiple modelling domains, and able to guide others.
  • Able to set technical direction, define modelling approaches, and mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Able to realise practical constraints such as performance, fidelity and scalability.
  • Curious and willing to challenge assumptions.
  • Comfortable iterating based on feedback, imperfect data, and evolving requirements.

Key Technical Proficiencies:

  • Strong programming in high-performance C++ and Python.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering real-time systems and simulation components or engines.
  • A strong understanding of modelling approaches including: Agent based modelling, Behavioural modelling, CNI modelling and physics/effects modelling.
  • Highly experienced with model calibration and tuning, representational fidelity and real-time simulation constraints.
  • Experience working with real-time 3D simulation and visualisation platforms such as Unity and Unreal Engine.
  • Experience designing models that can be reused and composed as part of a wider system, not built in isolation.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: military capability modelling, human behaviour modelling, environmental modelling, terrain / GIS systems.
  • Experience defining modelling architecture and reuse strategy across a programme, not just within a single model.

What We Can Offer You:

  • Unlimited Paid Holiday - we value and support the need to maintain a strong work-life balance.
  • Hybrid Working - we understand that a one-size-fits all approach doesn’t suit everyone.
  • Flexible Working Hours - We’re not bound by the 9-to-5 model. Collaborate with your manager on determining a work schedule that suits you.
  • Enhanced Parental Leave - we’re proud to offer 26 weeks maternity leave and 4 weeks paternity leave at full pay.
  • Private Medical & Dental Insurance - offered through Bupa.
  • Honest about Compensation - We maintain a well defined salary range which a member of the Talent Team will discuss with you during the first call.
  • Healthy Snacks & Drinks Provided - If you decide to come into the office, we have a range of snacks and drinks for you to enjoy.

At Skyral, we are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion. We also ensure that individuals with disabilities have access to reasonable adjustments. If you require such accommodations during the job application process we ask that you inform a member of our Talent Team.
