We are looking for a PHP developer who is dedicated to the craft, writes code that they are proud of and can hit the ground running. A PHP developer writes beautiful, fast PHP to a high standard, in a timely and scalable way that improves the codebase of our products in meaningful ways. You will be a part of a team that is responsible for all aspects of the ongoing software development from the initial specification, through to developing, testing and launching. You will also be responsible for building and integrating front-end elements for the user and our customers. Therefore, an understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Write clean, well-designed code
- Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP code
- Take ownership of features and be able to self-manage the development cycle of these features
- Assist in the production of detailed specifications
- Troubleshoot, test and help maintain the core product software, databases and company website to ensure strong optimization and functionality
- Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
- Follow industry best practices
- Develop and deploy new features as required
Required Skills
- Fluent in PHP and JavaScript
- A strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Strong knowledge of regular JavaScript and common libraries like VueJS and jQuery
- Ability to easily navigate and understand the document object model (DOM)
- Not only be able to write excellent procedural code but also to write object-oriented PHP and to be well versed on classes, objects and interfaces
- Familiar with Laravel or similar frameworks
- Knowledge of public API’s and how to interact with them as well as how to build and manage your own
- Familiar with continuous delivery and continuous integration lifecycles
- Know what impacts the speed of a website from both the front and backend and take it into consideration with every piece of code you write
Required Experience
- Previous years of production quality work using PHP and JavaScript
- Proven software and website development experience in PHP
- Have experience with and have used a version control system (Git)
- Experience of using common content management systems (WordPress)
- Experience integrating PHP and JavaScript through asynchronous requests or other modern techniques
- MySQL and general database experience
Desired Experience
- Previous years of production quality work using PHP and JavaScript
- Debugging and code profiling experience
