Job Title Building Surveyor Level Senior Surveyor or Associate Director Location Birmingham Salary and Package £60,000–£75,000, depending on experience + benefits + hybrid working The Opportunity An established consultancy with around 300 staff across the UK is developing a dedicated Building Surveying service in Birmingham. It has an immediate pipeline of instructions generated through the wider practice, particularly from corporate occupier clients in the retail and leisure sectors. The role is centred on delivering that work well: providing sound technical advice, building confidence with existing practice clients and helping shape the standards and approach of the growing team. It could suit an experienced Senior Building Surveyor ready for a broader role or an Associate Director who wants to remain close to the technical work while helping develop the service line with the Birmingham based head of service. The Role You will take responsibility for professional Building Surveying instructions across the Midlands and wider UK. A significant part of the workload will involve a number of differnt sector areas and will include retail and leisure properties within national corporate occupier portfolios. Your work will include: Technical due diligence and pre-acquisition surveys
Condition surveys and advice on building defects
Dilapidations instructions and negotiations
Producing reports, specifications and technical advice
Managing multiple instructions across client portfolios
Working with colleagues across the practice to deliver instructions for existing clients
Helping develop processes, reporting standards and best practice
Supporting junior surveyors as the team grows
There is work ready to be handed over from within the practice. You will be able to focus on delivery, client service and developing the Building Surveying capability from a strong starting position. The Business The consultancy has an established UK platform of around 300 people and long-standing relationships with national clients. Its wider teams already work with corporate occupiers, creating a steady source of Building Surveying instructions as this dedicated service develops. You will have the backing of that wider practice, access to clients and projects from the outset, and a meaningful role in deciding how the team delivers its work. Candidate Profile MRICS qualified Building Surveyor, or equivalent professional experience
Strong professional Building Surveying experience, particularly in technical due diligence, condition surveys and dilapidations
Consultancy background and confidence advising clients directly
Ability to manage several instructions and produce clear, high-quality reports
Commercial judgement and a practical understanding of client requirements
Retail, leisure or other multi-site corporate occupier experience would be particularly relevant
The appointment could be made at Senior Surveyor or Associate Director level, depending on your experience and the responsibilities you are ready to take on. Why This Role An immediate pipeline of work provided through the wider practice
