Main Responsibilities/Overall Purpose

Saica Group provides sustainable recycled paper, corrugated cardboard and flexible packaging manufacturing solutions as well as solutions for waste management and the recovery of waste. Sustainability at Saica begins with our values – we care, we value and we challenge.

The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate Saica Flex Buxton colour management system while working closely with Sun Chemicals to ensure that all customer colour targets are accurate. This role is responsible for the building and maintaining of Saica Flex Buxton digital colour library.

To work with internal stakeholders in our PMR, Production and Management team in supporting in controlling job bags, sample folders and colour related queries.

Specific Tasks/Accountabilities

  • Working closely with our Colour Partner, Sun Chemicals, to build and maintain a Colour Library from our existing and current colour standards.
  • Add digital pantone colours and instruction to any new designs and work closely with our resident Third Party Sun chemical representative in order to align ink formulas and target colour.
  • Allocate digital colour data to s/o –D numbers, process and pantone. Add correct print profile /CGAT data file to IQC library and colorcert.
  • Add digital data to the S/O –D number.
  • Make physical colour standards when required.
  • Support the PMR team in controlling job bags along with sample folders and archive folders.
  • Control digital colorcert project required by our customers such as ASDA and UB.
  • Xrite calibration through net profiler and arranging yearly calibration of each Spectro.
  • Maintain software and spectros.
  • Work with XRITE directly on resolving any issues with equipment.
  • Work with Sun chemicals on new IQC V10 and IFS6 where needed.
  • Work with Sun chemicals on customer draw down requirements and unusual colour matching requirements.
  • Work with the origination team on colour targets and instruction for new designs.
  • Understanding customer requirements for colour spec and update any new fingerprint profiles into IQC.
  • Keep up to date and accurate reporting on plate allocation on the plan to ensure all usage per plate data is captured.
  • Allocate cold seal cylinders in the plan to capture usage per plate.
  • Update special instructions for colour on PECAS.
  • Control of colour targets and CXF files between Saica sites on transfer work.
  • Support the Production and Management teams in all aspects of colour where applicable.
  • Support the Technical Department with product testing and trials.
  • Add digital pantone colours and instruction to any new designs and work closely with our resident Third Party.
  • Work with the origination team on colour targets and instruction for new designs.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by their line manager in accordance with the scope and the responsibilities of the role.

Skills, Qualifications & Attributes

  • Computer literate – essential
  • Efficient with all Microsoft packages
  • Xrite experience – essential
  • EFI PECAS knowledge
  • Extensive previous experience in working in the printing industry, preferable with colour
  • Awareness of H&S in the workplace
  • Good understanding of quality standards within the food industry.
  • Qualification in Print and/or colour
  • Background in Print / Lamination / Cold seal packing industry – experience of flexographic printing technology & its requirements a distinct advantage

Work Experience: General Administration

Education: GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education): Computer and Information Science (Required)
