Position: Colour Co‑ordinator (Fixed term, 12‑month maternity cover)

Responsibilities:

  • Co‑ordinate the Saica Flex Buxton colour management system in close partnership with Sun Chemicals to ensure customer colour targets are accurate.
  • Build and maintain the Saica Flex Buxton digital colour library.
  • Work with PMR, production and management teams to control job bags, sample folders, and colour related queries.

Specific Tasks:

  • Build and maintain a Colour Library from existing and current colour standards.
  • Add digital Pantone colours and instructions to new designs.
  • Align ink formulas and target colour with Sun Chemicals’ representative.
  • Allocate digital colour data to s/o‑D numbers and process Pantone information.
  • Add correct print profile/CGAT data file to IQC library and colourcert.
  • Create physical colour standards when required.
  • Support the PMR team in controlling job bags and archive folders.
  • Control digital colourcert project required by customers such as ASDA and UB.
  • Perform Xrite calibration through net profiler and arrange yearly calibration of each spectrometer.
  • Maintain software and spectrometers; resolve equipment issues with Xrite.
  • Work with Sun Chemicals on new IQC V10 and IFS6, as needed.
  • Handle customer draw‑down requirements and unusual colour matching needs.
  • Collaborate with the origination team on colour targets and instructions for new designs.
  • Update fingerprint profiles into IQC as per customer specifications.
  • Track plate allocation and capture usage per plate data.
  • Allocate cold seal cylinders in the plan to capture usage per plate.
  • Update special instructions for colour on PECAS.
  • Manage colour target and CXF file transfer between Saica sites.
  • Support production and management teams in all colour aspects.
  • Assist the technical department with product testing and trials.
  • Undertake additional duties as requested by line manager within scope of role.

Skills, Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Computer‑literate – essential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft packages.
  • Experience with Xrite – essential.
  • EFI PECAS knowledge.
  • Extensive experience in the printing industry, preferably with colour.
  • Aware of H&S in the workplace.
  • Good understanding of food‑industry quality standards.
  • Background in print/lamination/cold seal packing industry – experience of flexographic printing technology & its requirements is a distinct advantage.

Qualifications:

  • General Administration experience.
  • GCSEs – Computer and Information Science (required).
