My client was established over 30 years ago and specialises in process control systems and LV switchboards for a wide variety of applications across many industrial sectors. They are the preferred and trusted supplier of choice for many leading and high profile companies.

The successful candidate should ideally have a degree in a relevant discipline such as Electrical / Electronic Engineering. The role of a Software Engineer will require the individual to undertake the following duties:

  • Control and instrumentation systems functional specification and design, PLC system software configuration.
  • Understanding, interpreting and responding to the needs of other departments.
  • Production of control and instrumentation design documentation and drawings including: Specifications, P&IDs, Control philosophies, Instrument schedules and Control system & communications block diagrams.
  • Undertake site surveys of existing installations.
  • Undertake site based commissioning work if required.
  • Liaison with clients both internal and external.

Candidates will have a minimum of 1 year’s experience and ideally a BTEC National in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, be computer literate and able to work effectively with Microsoft Office as a minimum. Design experience within the Water Industry sector would be an advantage, including in areas such as potable water production and distribution and waste water treatment.

Ideally, candidates should be able to demonstrate design experience of one or more of the following:

  • Mitsubishi (Q series PLC)
  • Mitsubishi E series HMI configuration
  • Rockwell (ControlLogix PLC, RS Logix)
  • Rockwell RSView32 configuration
  • Siemens (S5, S7, Winn CC)
  • Siemens ProTool configuration
  • Wonderware InTouch SCADA Configuration
  • Profibus
  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC programming
  • Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus configuration

Site based Testing/Commissioning of the above Systems. Combinations of other PLC, HMI or SCADA configuration skills may be considered if a significant level of experience has been attained.

Must be able to deliver projects on time and within budget. Work within our established Quality Management System, ISO9001:2001 TickIT. Good keyboard skills and IT literacy (ideally Word, Excel and Access). Good organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work on own initiative without supervision. Ability to cope under pressure. Full UK driving licence.
