Industry: Trailer Manufacturing

We are looking for an experienced Spray Painter / Blaster to join a premier trailer manufacturer in Northern Ireland. The finish on these trailers is a key selling point, so we need someone who is meticulous with surface preparation and can deliver a high-quality, durable industrial finish.

The Role

You will be responsible for the final stages of the production process—taking fabricated steel frames and ensuring they are perfectly cleaned, blasted, and coated to withstand heavy use and outdoor elements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surface Preparation: Perform abrasive pressure blasting to remove scale and rust, achieving the required SA-grade cleanliness for coating adhesion.
  • Equipment Operation: Set up and maintain blasting pots, air compressors, and industrial spray units (Airless and Conventional).
  • Coating Application: Apply primers and topcoats (typically high-build epoxies or polyurethanes) to chassis and components, ensuring even coverage and the correct wet/dry film thickness.
  • Quality Control: Check for runs, thin spots, or debris in the finish to ensure every trailer meets the client’s high aesthetic and protective standards.
  • Maintenance: Perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance of spray guns, hoses, and booths to prevent downtime.

What We Are Looking For

  • Industrial Experience: Proven background in industrial spray painting, ideally within the transport, agricultural, or heavy machinery sectors.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Airless (e.g., Graco Xtreme) and conventional spray systems, and experience with various blasting media (grit, garnet, or slag).
  • Attention to Detail: You take pride in a smooth, professional finish and understand the importance of proper mixing ratios and drying times.
  • Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to PPE requirements, including air-fed masks and respirators, and a commitment to keeping a clean, safe booth.

Why Apply?

  • Consistent, full-time hours with a well-known manufacturer.
  • Opportunity for overtime during peak production periods.
  • A chance to work on large-scale builds where your work is the first thing the customer sees.
