Position: Business Development Manager (Chemistry Services)
Reporting to: Managing Director
Primary Role:
- The primary purpose of this role is to acquire new business that drives revenue growth in line with the annual budget.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and financial targets while operating with a high degree of autonomy.
- With the support and guidance of the Managing Director, the roleholder will proactively identify, pursue, and convert new salesopportunities, as well as maximise revenue from the existing customer base.
- The role will be home-based or Leicester office-based, depending on the successful candidate’s location. The position requires extensive travel to client sites, regular visits to ECT laboratories, and attendance at industry events.
Skills, Experience & Requirements:
- Proven experience in business development or B2B sales, ideally within technical, laboratory, or testing services.
- Ability to work independently while delivering against defined targets and KPIs.
Strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills and confident using CRM, ERP, and LIMS. - Full, clean, and valid UK driving licence (mandatory).
- The successful candidate will demonstrate a sound working knowledge of BS1377, BS3882, WM3, TRL 447, BS1881, EN 1744 and BS4551 testing applications, together with an understanding of the commercial and regulatory drivers behind these methods. This knowledge will enable them to hold informed, credible conversations with prospectiveclients and stakeholders.

Main Tasks:
The general duties and responsibilities of the role shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- Proactively develop new business leads within defined target sectors throughoutbound telephone and prospecting campaigns, promoting ECT testing services to key decision makers (KDMs).
- Grow revenues from existing customers through effective account management and upselling opportunities.
- Generate accurate and timely quotations using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Maintain and update all customer, opportunity, and sales data within ERP and CRM systems.
- Actively manage the sales pipeline, ensuring consistent follow-up and engagement with prospective clients.
- Provide regular pipeline and activity updates during weekly sales meetings.
- Prepare, generate, and present sales performance reports at monthly Management Meetings.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, including regular
engagement with ECT laboratory staff to support sales delivery. - Represent the business at industry trade shows and external events as required.
- Work with the Divisional Marketing Team to set up targeted campaigns to promote services.
- Salary: competitive salary + Annual Performance Based Pay ReviewIncentive
- Scheme: Bonus payments of 7.5% of annual salary will be calculated and paid quarterly.
- Commission: 3% commission payment for exceeding the year-end target will be calculated and paid annually.
