We are looking for a reliable and proactive Facility Assistants to join our operations team and help ensure the smooth daily functioning of our hockey arena. In this hands-on role, you will be instrumental in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment for hockey games, public skating sessions, and special events. The ideal candidate is highly organized, mechanically inclined, and enthusiastic about working in a dynamic sports and facility setting. This role pays an hourly rate of $17.20-$19.70 CAD.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain the overall condition and functionality of the facility, including the ice rink, locker rooms, restrooms, public areas, and mechanical spaces.
  • Perform routine/minor repairs to ensure all areas meet operational standards.
  • Assist with the preparation, setup, and breakdown of arena spaces for hockey games, public skating sessions, private rentals, and special events.
  • Coordinate with management to ensure proper facility readiness and support throughout each event.
  • Operate facility equipment as required.
  • Ensure all operations are carried out in compliance with OSHA guidelines, fire codes, and other relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance needs in a timely manner.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency response procedures.
  • Provide friendly and knowledgeable support to visitors, athletes, and staff during events and open hours.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that enhances the overall guest experience.
  • Resolve issues and concerns in a courteous, timely, and effective manner.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to mobilize quickly and for long durations.
  • Ability to work independently and as a productive member of a team.
  • Capable of working a flexible schedule and extended hours, including but not limited to working early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays in addition to traditional business hours.
  • Must be able to work in a loud noise environment.
  • Must be able to work in cold environments.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Proven ability to work well with all levels of management.
  • Strong work ethic and personal integrity.
  • Ability to lift up to 50-150 lbs for short periods.
  • Experience with ice resurfacer operations would be considered an asset.
