Are you looking for a rewarding role that could work around family or other commitments? We are recruiting for proactive, caring candidates to join our family-style children’s homes (up to 4 residents) as Waking Night Support Workers. You will be supported by the existing teams to provide a safe and secure environment overnight.

New Forest Care are a specialist childcare provider that works with children and young people who present with emotional and behavioural difficulties, ADHD and autism. A therapeutic approach, and putting our young people first, are integral to what we do.

Experience and requirements:

  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle (some of our locations are not easily accessible by public transport).
  • Experience of supporting vulnerable young people within a residential care environment, or another professional setting is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
  • You will be compassionate, resilient and committed to being a positive role model.

Shift pattern: 40 hours, two-week rota shift pattern.

  • Week 1: Mon, Tues, Sat & Sun
  • Week 2: Wed, Thurs & Fri

Role Description:

  • Guide and individually support young people in line with their individual needs.
  • To take all reasonable care to safeguard young people and staff members.
  • To remain awake and alert throughout the duration of the shift and work on own initiative and without direct supervision.
  • To check at regular intervals throughout the night that all young people are present, taking care to maintain the young person’s privacy.
  • To respond to young people who need attention through the night for illness or other reasons and where necessary refer to the Senior Cover (and/or sleep-in staff) for advice and/or assistance.
  • To provide assistance with pre-bedtime routines/activities and early morning routines where necessary and as directed by the day staff.
  • To help maintain the home in a clean and tidy condition and report any maintenance issues to the Home Manager/Senior Cover as well as completing the relevant report form.
