PURPOSE OF JOB: To lead a production team and a plastics processing plant and to continually achieve the safety, productivity and quality targets set by the Senior Management Team.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure that all operations undertaken on the site are conducted in a manner which fully complies with Monoworld Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards taking a zero tolerance approach to breaches in any of these standards and reporting any breaches immediately to a member of the Senior Management Team.
- Assist with activities to improve safety, quality, productivity and profitability, by encouraging suggestions and involvement from the teams.
- Where required, operate works equipment (ensuring competency prior to operating) in a safe and productive manner, adhering to all Safe Working Procedures and Works Rules.
- Fully understand and can be the lead on all the processes undertaken by the team.
- Organize and deploy resources to deliver the daily targets, monitoring and reporting on the progress against the plan and taking appropriate actions to produce the required results.
- Ensure any required housekeeping activities including FLT’s are completed without fail, records are maintained and Team Members are proactively challenged if the tasks are not completed.
- Assist in training and developing of the teams, working as coach and leader to manage performance, training and conduct.
- Communicate business objectives through Team Briefs and engage employee commitment to achieving targets.
- Ensure that all stock is stored correctly and associated records are maintained accurately.
- Demonstrate leadership in all aspects of HSE and Quality through personal example, setting and maintaining high standards and insisting on the same from others around. Encourage Behavioural safety with all in the organization.
- Ensure all plant and equipment is cleaned and maintained to a high standard, ensure all team members are trained in the tasks expected from them and monitor their performance.
CONTEXT: This position exists in order to help lead production activities to achieve commercial goals, in order to deliver short and long term business objectives. To help Management drive a cultural change operationally and to help improve efficiencies in various processes. To assist Management in creating a clear Health, Safety, Environmentally aware and Quality approach. The position holder will be required to work effectively with the Site Senior Management Team, to deliver an effective and efficient operational unit.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a capable people Leader, with developed technical and organizational skills.
- Be able to demonstrate success gained in process and/or manufacturing industry, attained over a minimum two year period at similar level.
- Have a strong working knowledge of health & safety leadership. Ideally IOSH trained.
- Have a strong understanding of Environmental standards. (14001)
- Have a strong understanding of QA systems (19001) and can demonstrate experience in managing QA requirements.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as IT based understanding.
