We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join a dynamic team based in Central London. In this role, you will be responsible for the operational systems engineering aspect of a global radio network subsystem. You will play a crucial role in managing the Radio Access portion of the network, providing 24/7 on-call support, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the seamless operation of the network. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various internal teams to validate, test, and deploy software and hardware upgrades.
  • Conduct testing and validation of new software releases.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for network operations and site operators.
  • Resolve complex technical issues that may impact multiple areas.
  • Be part of the team providing 24/7 engineering support for the radio network globally.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and systems issues, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Coordinate with vendors to address and implement bug fixes with minimal impact on network operations.
  • Interact with vendor development teams to validate and deploy new software and configuration settings safely.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and ensure hardware availability for redundancy schemes.
  • Actively participate in implementing change requests and preparing sites for software and patch updates.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in network design, integration, and testing in satellite access stations (L/Ka/Ku bands) offering VSAT and IPTV services.
  • Strong knowledge of DVB-S2/ACM or TDMA.
  • Familiarity with modulation, coding, and a good understanding of 3GPP.
  • Proficiency in protocol analyzing tools and RF measurement techniques.
  • Ability to create and update Link Budgets.
