Senior Electrical Estimator – Data Centres & Critical Infrastructure Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire – Hybrid (2 days office / 3 days remote) Salary: £80,000–£90,000 Projects: £1m–£7m Sector: Data Centres, Critical Plant Replacement & Commercial Refurbishment The Opportunity Michael Taylor Search & Selection are working with an established engineering contractor specialising in technically challenging projects across the data centre and critical infrastructure sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join their pre-construction team. The business delivers projects typically ranging from £1m to £7m, predominantly working directly with end users on upgrades to existing data centres, critical electrical infrastructure replacements, plant upgrades and commercial refurbishment schemes. Unlike traditional new-build projects, much of the work involves upgrading and replacing services within existing operational environments, requiring a strong understanding of electrical building services, installation methodologies and the challenges associated with working around live infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys technically involved projects and wants to play a key role in securing and delivering work within the growing data centre and critical infrastructure markets. The Role As Senior Electrical Estimator, you will take responsibility for preparing and managing electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission and project handover. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing detailed electrical estimates for projects ranging from £1m to £7m. Reviewing tender documentation, specifications, drawings and employer's requirements. Undertaking site surveys to understand existing installations, access constraints and project requirements. Producing accurate take-offs, cost plans and tender submissions. Obtaining and evaluating quotations from specialist subcontractors and suppliers. Working closely with design, commercial and operational teams to develop competitive and technically sound proposals. Identifying tender risks, programme constraints and opportunities for value engineering. Attending tender reviews and client meetings, including direct engagement with end users. Preparing tender adjudication information and supporting final commercial submissions. Leading the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team. About You We are keen to speak with experienced Electrical Estimators who have a strong technical understanding of electrical building services and the confidence to take ownership of their own tenders. Ideally, you will have: Proven experience estimating electrical packages for an M&E contractor or specialist electrical engineering business. A strong understanding of electrical building services installations, plant infrastructure and associated systems. Experience working on refurbishment, upgrade or replacement projects. The ability to price projects from drawings, specifications and performance requirements. Strong commercial awareness and experience managing subcontractor and supplier enquiries. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients and project teams. Experience managing tenders independently from enquiry through to submission. Data centre experience would be particularly advantageous, although we would also welcome applications from estimators with experience in critical infrastructure, healthcare, industrial facilities or complex commercial refurbishment projects. What's on Offer? £80,000–£90,000 salary, depending on experience. Hybrid working – just two days per week in the Stevenage office.
