This is an excellent opportunity for a CAD Technician with a background in security systems, building services, engineering or BIM to develop their career within a specialist and technically driven environment.

You will work closely with Security Solutions Architects, Technical Designers, Engineers and Project Delivery teams, turning architectural drawings, site information and design requirements into accurate and professional 2D and 3D drawings.

The role offers a combination of technical design, CAD, Revit, BIM coordination and project documentation, with opportunities to work on complex security projects across sectors including infrastructure, transport, public space, commercial and high-security environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and modify 2D CAD drawings and 3D Revit models for electronic security systems.
  • Create layouts, schematics, plans, elevations, technical details and building layouts.
  • Produce drawings for CCTV, access control, intruder detection and other physical security systems.
  • Use Revit MEP to support system modelling and coordination.
  • Develop, manage and maintain BIM models and BIM objects.
  • Produce CCTV field-of-view visualisations.
  • Review architectural, engineering and construction drawings and incorporate design requirements.
  • Work with engineers, subcontractors and designers to coordinate drawings and design information.
  • Maintain and update red-line drawings and as-installed documentation.
  • Manage drawing revisions, drawing registers, document control and customer transmittals.
  • Ensure drawings are produced accurately and in line with project requirements and deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with Design, Sales, Procurement and Project Delivery teams.
  • Attend occasional site surveys and technical visits to gather information for design development.
  • Use document management, collaboration and BIM coordination platforms as required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of drawing standards, processes and BIM libraries.

About You

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, organised and takes pride in producing high-quality design work.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong AutoCAD experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Revit, ideally Revit MEP.
  • Experience working with BIM Level 2 principles.
  • Experience producing technical drawings within an engineering, construction, MEP or security environment.
  • An understanding of electronic security systems, such as CCTV, access control and intruder detection.
  • A good understanding of engineering and technical design principles.
  • Experience using Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat.
  • The ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications and technical information.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage your own workload and meet project deadlines.
  • A positive, flexible and collaborative approach.
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • A genuine interest in technology, CAD, BIM and the development of security systems.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Previous experience within the electronic security industry.
  • Experience with security design software such as JVSG.
  • Revit certification or formal CAD/BIM qualifications.
  • Engineering, construction or building services qualifications.
  • Knowledge of UK security products, manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Understanding of electrical installations and construction.
  • Experience working to SFG20 standards.
  • UK driving licence.

What You'll Get

  • Hybrid and home-based working options

  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • Life assurance – 4 x annual salary
  • 5% matched pension
