Role Purpose
To deliver fire strategy design, façade fire risk analysis and remediation advisory services across residential and higher-risk buildings. The role combines technical fire engineering analysis with practical application within the UK regulatory framework.
The position requires strong grounding in fire dynamics, structural fire engineering principles and building regulations compliance.
Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways:
Route A
- Accredited MSc or MEng in Fire Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years industry experience where the degree is specifically in Fire Engineering.
- AIFireE Registered with IFE
Route B
- Accredited BEng/BSc in Engineering (relevant discipline).
- Currently undertaking or committed to undertaking an MSc/MEng in Fire Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years industry experience.
- AIFireE Registered with IFE
All candidates must demonstrate:
- Experience in residential new build and retrospective fire strategy development.
- Knowledge of Higher-Risk Buildings under the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Working knowledge of:
- Building Regulations 2010 and Approved Document B
- Scottish Technical Handbooks
- BS 9991
- BS 9999
- PAS 9980
- MIFireE or working towards membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working toward CEng.
- Experience supporting Gateway 2 submissions.
- Experience reviewing smoke control strategies and cause and effect matrices.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop fire strategies from RIBA Stage 2–6.
- Provide performance-based analysis where required.
External Wall and Remediation
- Undertake or support Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls.
- Provide technical input on cladding remediation strategies.
- Contribute to safety case reports and regulatory engagement.
Technical Leadership
- Contribute to internal QA and technical development.
