Purpose of the Role
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in delivering cost-effective and well-managed utility infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on experience in the dynamic utilities sector, working closely with project managers and clients to ensure successful project delivery and budget control.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for utility infrastructure projects.
- Support commercial management of live projects, including monthly valuations and payment processing.
- Help procure and manage subcontractor packages.
- Assist in preparing and agreeing final accounts, including claims and variations.
- Gain experience working with NEC and other forms of contract on major frameworks.
- Liaise with site teams, project managers, and clients to provide commercial support.
Key Skills & Experience
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction/engineering field.
- 12 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in civils or utilities (preferred but not essential).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in industry software and strong Excel skills.
- Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn.
