About IES:
IES Utilities Group is a leading UK utility provider delivering end-to-end multi-discipline solutions. Our teams operate across Power, Gas, Water, Telecoms, District Heating and Renewables, providing survey, design, construction, and maintenance services nationwide. With a commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability, IES supports clients in building and maintaining resilient, future-ready infrastructure networks across the UK. As our Gas Division continues to grow, we are seeking a committed on-site Quantity Surveyor (or SQS) to support long-term maintenance and construction works at the St Fergus Gas Terminal.
About the Role:
This is a site-based Quantity Surveyor position working within a major hazards environment on the above 7-bar Gas Transmission (NTS) network. You will support live maintenance, project works and multi-discipline construction activity across ongoing contract workstreams at St Fergus. You will be embedded within the delivery team, working closely with operational leads, planners, engineers and client representatives to ensure robust commercial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Administer and manage contracts, predominantly NEC (NEC3 / NEC4 ECC) and bespoke contracts. Manage contract change control processes, notices, valuations and final accounts. Maintain commercial records, produce CVRs, forecasts and cost plans.
- Project & Commercial Delivery: Support the delivery of maintenance and construction works on live NTS assets. Attend and contribute to site-based meetings providing commercial guidance. Manage subcontractor procurement, measurement, payment applications and account close-out. Ensure commercial discipline across all workstreams, minimising WIP and improving cash position.
- Client Collaboration: Work closely with client-side teams at St Fergus, supporting cost assurance and contract reporting. Prepare evidence-based submissions for change, cost reviews and audits.
Our Gas Division:
We are a leading maintenance and construction company who work across the UK and Ireland. Our projects in Scotland are single and multi-discipline and centred around AGIs / Offtakes / Terminals, undertaking maintenance and facility upgrades, along with pipeline maintenance and diversion projects on the transmission system. We have an extensive in-house capability and skilled workforce which is ever expanding including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, coatings and fabrication disciplines.
Skills & Experience:
- Quantity Surveyor Level - minimum 2+ years experience within utilities, infrastructure or Oil & Gas sectors.
- Strong understanding of cost control and commercial management principles.
- Strong interpersonal and client-facing communication skills.
- Experience within Gas Transmission (NTS), terminals, refineries or high-pressure pipeline environments preferred.
- Understanding of multi-utility delivery environments.
- Within commutable distance to the St Fergus Gas Terminal preferred.
- Experience of working with NEC3 and NEC4 ECC contracts is essential.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary / remuneration.
- Long-term and stable work.
- Opportunity to support critical infrastructure projects within an expanding Gas Division.
- Supportive team environment committed to high safety & quality standards along with a self-delivery resourcing strategy.
