What design engineering at Shadow Robot looks like:
- Design, develop, and test complex electro-mechanical robotic systems

What We Typically Look For
Core requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of commercial experience in robotics or related fields
- Strong background in both mechanical and electronic engineering
- Proficiency in MCAD (preferably Solidworks or Onshape) and/or ECAD (preferably Altium)
- Excellent C++ and Python skills, particularly in Linux environments
- Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System)
- Proven track record designing, specifying, and assembling complex electro-mechanical systems
- Strong interest and experience in designing, building, and developing robots
Valued skills:
- Excellent documentation capabilities
- Knowledge of surface mount PCB assembly and rework
- Experience with low-volume designs transitioning to higher-volume manufacturing
- Fast CAD execution skills

Contract Information
Future roles may be fixed-term contracts (typically 3-6 months) and are likely to be determined as inside IR35, with PAYE tax and National Insurance contributions deducted at source. Please note: Positions are not suitable for recent graduates. We are currently unable to offer work permit sponsorship.
