Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer
H9 Talent Solutions has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering and energy team, supporting a diverse portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects across the UK.
The successful candidate will provide electrical engineering expertise across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and technology assessment through to FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning and operational support.
The role will involve working closely with clients, multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver technically robust and commercially viable solutions.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and technical expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of project challenges.
- Provide design support and undertake technical reviews of designs completed by others.
- Produce conceptual, preliminary and detailed electrical engineering deliverables, including drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and engineering sketches.
- Attend factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
- Monitor and inspect electrical construction and installation activities on site.
- Provide technical input throughout construction, commissioning and testing activities.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, documentation and project files.
- Identify potential health & safety, design, sustainability and commercial risks, contributing to appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support project delivery while maintaining high standards of technical quality and professional conduct.
- Contribute to business development activities, including client engagement, capability presentations, proposals and tenders.
- Support and mentor less experienced engineers, helping to develop technical capability within the wider engineering team.
- Maintain and develop technical and professional knowledge in line with industry developments and best practice.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2:1 degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or demonstrable progress towards Chartered status.
- Significant experience working with LV to HV electrical infrastructure, ideally within power generation, energy or wider industrial infrastructure.
- Willingness to travel to client and project sites as required.
- Recognised Project Management training or qualifications.
- Experience providing electrical engineering consultancy services within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Commercial awareness and knowledge of engineering contracts, such as FIDIC or IChemE.
- Electrical design experience covering concept development through to detailed engineering.
- Practical experience gained through construction, installation, commissioning and testing.
- Experience with HV protection systems, HV grid connections and HV substations.
- Experience coordinating with UK Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
- Knowledge of Grid Code and G99 requirements.
- Experience with electrical modelling software such as ETAP or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
- Experience within power generation, renewable energy, BESS, energy from waste or other energy infrastructure projects.
