We have an opportunity for a Production Operator to join our Manufacturing plant in Aberdare. We are looking for someone who is motivated, can work in a team environment and work to SOP's.

Main Purpose

To check and pack products being produced, ensuring correct packing materials are being used. Liaise with the charge hand when stillages are full and ready to be moved, liaise with the setter if any issues with the products or production line.

Main Responsibilities

  • Pack all product using the correct specified materials and place product correctly on to stillage.
  • Your packing must be neat and presentable, taped up correctly and the labels are straight.
  • Change protective tapes when line is in production.
  • Monitor and fill material hoppers on every line and assist in refilling the skin bins that you are assigned to.
  • Assist the setters in resetting production line when either line snaps or on start up.
  • Record scrap weight on to scrap recording sheet ensuring that scrap logged to correct production line.
  • Ensure that the stillage on the end of your line is lined correctly to prevent product damage during transport.
  • Pre lam product and Rockdoor product stillage lined with lay flat. If not lined see your chargehand. Do not load unlined stillages.
  • Lam product must be clearly marked up with shift initials and quantity.
  • Ensure the protective film is corrective. Width, coverage, type and when applied must be free of creasing and dust from the inline saw also make sure the tape is being applied as neatly as possible.
  • Ensure that all extraction units are in operation when production lines are running, keep finished products as dust free as possible, and change extraction bags when half full when possible.
  • Lift the protective tape and check the surface quality for lines, marks or skin blemishes.
  • Quality check all products that are produced on the production line that operator is assigned to.
  • Ensure correct count in stillage as per matrix.
  • Report all issues to your line setter immediately.
  • Check printers are clearly printing information on to profile if not inform the setter or manager.
  • Product for lamination must be clearly marked up with shift initials and quantity.
  • Occasionally the packer will be asked to cut line samples to assist the line setter with his quality checks.
  • If a line is undergoing start up the packer must assist the line setter to pull through material.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working area at all times.
  • Clean down the take-off table.
  • Clean inline saw when line has completed.
  • Clean out cross-cut saw when line has completed.
  • Clear all scrap from walk ways and place correctly and safely on scrap stillage.
  • Sweep floor areas.
  • Empty rubbish bins on the lines when full.
  • Do not leave empty drink containers on process or food wrappers.
  • Remove any unwanted materials to correct storage areas.
  • Clean up water or any other spillages.
  • Assist / carry out any tasks that may be required as instructed by shift manager, setter or charge hand.
