The Team & Focus of the Role This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded legal, risk or compliance professional to take on a varied and influential role within a collaborative professional services environment. Working closely with the Head of Legal, Risk & Compliance, you’ll help provide clear, practical guidance across the firm, supporting colleagues to manage risk well, meet regulatory obligations and make confident, well-informed decisions. You’ll be involved in a broad range of work, from contract review and regulatory compliance through to governance, claims, complaints and supplier risk, giving you exposure to different teams, projects and commercial issues across the business. It’s a role suited to someone who enjoys turning complex legal or regulatory requirements into pragmatic solutions, building trusted relationships and playing an active part in shaping a positive risk and compliance culture. This is a full-time role, although part-time hours may be considered for the right individual, with a minimum of 30 hours per week. The role will require at least one day per week in both our Ashby de la Zouch and Birmingham offices. We operate a hybrid working policy, so there will be flexibility to split the remaining working days between office and home working. In return, beyond your base salary you will be included in: * A discretionary bonus scheme * Car Allowance * Private Healthcare * A generous holiday scheme which commences at 25 days with a sliding scale up to 30 days plus an additional day for your birthday, and additional days to cover the festive period! * Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave * An online money saving portal * Death In Service cover, alongside access to an Employee Assistance Programme which includes health appoints for you and your family * Volunteering Leave equating to 2 days per year (pro rata if you’re part-time) Duties will include: * Provide clear, pragmatic legal, risk and compliance advice to colleagues across the business, escalating complex matters where needed. * Review, draft and negotiate contracts, terms of engagement, supplier arrangements and other legal documents in line with firm policies and commercial objectives. * Support the development and ongoing management of the firm’s risk and compliance framework, including policies, procedures, risk registers, reporting and governance processes. * Help ensure the firm meets its regulatory, statutory and governance obligations, including AML, data protection, conflicts, supplier governance and quality standards. * Advise on claims, complaints, audits, regulatory enquiries, incidents and client due diligence requests, ensuring matters are managed effectively and documented appropriately. * Work with teams across the business to identify risk themes, improve controls and promote consistent, practical compliance. * Keep up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments, helping assess their impact on the firm and supporting a positive risk and compliance culture. The successful candidate will have... * Qualification as a solicitor or legal professional, ideally with around 4–5 years’ PQE or equivalent relevant experience. * Experience advising on legal, regulatory, risk or compliance matters, preferably within a professional service or similarly regulated environment. * Strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex legal or regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance. * Good understanding of risk, governance and compliance frameworks, including areas such as AML, data protection, conflicts, supplier risk and professional standards. * Commercial awareness, sound judgement and the confidence to provide proportionate advice, constructive challenge and clear recommendations. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams and levels of seniority. * A proactive, organised and resilient approach, with high levels of integrity and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
