Fisher German is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Associate or Senior Associate Planner to help establish and grow our Strategic Planning presence in Manchester and across the North West.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced planning professional to play a leading role in developing and expanding a growing service line within one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary property consultancies. We are looking for someone who is not only capable of delivering high-quality planning advice, but who is also enthusiastic about helping to build client relationships, win work and contribute to the growth of the business.
Working alongside our established national Strategic Planning team, you will help drive a diverse portfolio of projects including strategic land promotion, residential development, commercial schemes, rural diversification and regeneration proposals.
The Role
You will:
- Lead and manage a wide range of planning projects throughout the North West / West Midlands and beyond.
- Prepare and oversee planning appraisals, planning applications, appeals and promotion strategies.
- Advise landowners, developers, investors, housebuilders and private clients on planning opportunities and constraints.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support business development activities and identify opportunities for new work.
- Work closely with colleagues across the wider Fisher German business, including development, agency, infrastructure and rural teams.
- Help shape and grow the Manchester / Birmingham planning offer.
About You
We're looking for someone who can combine strong technical planning skills with commercial awareness and relationship-building abilities.
You will ideally have:
- MRTPI qualification.
- Significant post-qualification experience within either consultancy, development or local government.
- Excellent understanding of the UK planning system.
- Experience of promoting and delivering residential, commercial or strategic land projects.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- The ability to manage client relationships confidently and independently.
- A proactive and entrepreneurial approach to business development.
- Knowledge and experience of the North West / West Midlands planning market would be advantageous.

The Rest…
This is a permanent, full-time position based on a 37.5-hour week (Monday to Friday). We also operate a hybrid working policy.
